Becca is lawyer and experienced contracts specialist. After training to be a solicitor at a private practice law firm (qualifying in 2007), Becca moved in-house to work for Edinburgh Innovations, the University of Edinburgh’s research and commercialisation office.
In 2015, Becca studied at Babson College in Boston, Massachusetts (ranked #1 for Entrepreneurship). She returned to Scotland and set up her own legal consultancy business, advising Higher Education Institutions and SMEs. In 2024, Becca started her current role as an Enterprise Facilitator primarily advising micro-businesses in rural Scotland on commercial and legal matters, at GrowBiz Scotland, a community-based enterprise agency.
Becca says, “I’d consider myself to be very approachable and friendly – in my legal roles I have found that being empathetic and kind, listening to and understanding my clients’ needs, helps build trust with external and internal stakeholders alike, which in turn, leads to quicker decision-making and more (good) deals getting done. I am also able to express complex legal principles in a way that’s easier for clients to understand, write high-quality legal documents using as little legalese as possible and to explain what things mean in practical/real terms.”
Becca lives in rural Perthshire with her husband and Goldendoodle dog.
